About Conscious Impact Nepal 

Conscious Impact Nepal (Chetanshil Prabhav Nepal) is a Nepali NGO that has been working in the village of Takure in the Sindulpalchowk district since 2015. Our work focuses on regenerative agriculture and agroforestry, sustainable construction, community infrastructure development, youth empowerment and education, rural development, and sustainable tourism. We host international and national students and volunteers to participate in community infrastructure and building projects, support the planting of thousands of trees with local farmers, and inspire young people to be active leaders in their communities. 

Conscious Impact currently seeks one enthusiastic and action-oriented program coordinator who is passionate about sustainable, resilience-building, rural development in Sindhupalchok, Nepal. The selected applicant will work with our international and local teams and act as a liaison to the local government and local community groups. The position offers professional development in the nonprofit management space. We are looking for someone whose passion for rural sustainable development allows them to present project and program ideas to local leaders and team members emphasizing on the long-term positive impact created. Additionally, we are looking for someone excited about community mobilization and community-led projects, ultimately working with communities to work together towards unified goals. 

We are looking for someone with previous rural development nonprofit program coordination experience. This person should also be a self-starter, and, after an initial period of guidance and collaboration, be able to work independently towards organizational goals. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for building a positive relationship between our organization and the local and state level government; be responsible for producing relevant and responsible impact reports and submitting timely proposals for work within the rural municipality and national Social Welfare Council. Additionally, the program coordinator may participate in connecting our work to other relevant work within Nepal. 

This coordinator will start by working with the Program Director to learn about previous organizational work history, programs and structures and desires for future program and working structure. The person will also have additional responsibilities, such as facilitating interactions with local community members, persons of government authority, and international and local team members.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Fluent Nepali - written and oral 
  • English fluency - written and oral 
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, administration, nonprofit management, or related fields. Applicants with a related Master’s degree will be prioritized. 
  • Comfortable living communally and in a rural, rustic setting (basic earthen homes and shared bathroom/kitchen/common spaces) 
  • Microsoft Office applications competency (word, excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Enjoy outside activities, fieldwork and interest in walking 1-2 km for community mobilization and program work activities.

Job Type: Hybrid with 50% field visits required.  

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Management of Nepali NGO 

1.1 Administrative 

Organisation Registrations and Renewals 

  • Yearly Audit report preparation in close coordination with the audit firms 
  • Timely report submissions and renewals of the organisation at SWC and DAO 
  • Timely meetings with the CI Nepal Board and regular updates are provided. 
  • Prepare Yearly reports for submission to different government bodies 

1.2 Finance 

Reporting Staff: Admin Associate 

  • Budgeting of overall program expenses in coordination with ongoing programs 
  • Expenses review along with reviews of expense entries made by my admin assistant 
  • Yearly Budget expense report and Proposal to the Donor Organisation 
  • Salaries Transfer along with budget approval for onsite activities 

1.3 Program Support 

Reporting Staff: All Program Leads 

  • Regular staff Check-ins as well as timely performance reviews (group and individual) of the program staff 
  • Ensure regular reporting from the program lead and help facilitate projects undergoing different programs. 
  • The advisory role for the program leads and helps facilitate community-based projects, training, and community events. 
  • Represent CI as the official personnel in the community/ local authorities and reciprocate to the local government. 

2. CI USA Volunteer Program 

2.1 Reporting Staff: Marketing and Communications Associate 

  • Coordinate with the CI USA team along with Communications Coordinator for Volunteer programs 
  • Help create itineraries and host volunteer groups, conducting camp/community tours 
  • Maintain the role as one of the focal contact persons for the volunteers 
  • Ensure all the logistical arrangements required to host the volunteer groups. 

2.2 Human Resource Development 

  • Identify necessary training and events for the staff to help the capacity building of the staff 
  • Review staff performance, provide required support, and feedback, and facilitate yearly staff appraisals through diversified roles and salaries. 
  • Organise staff retreats, activities and team-building activities for the existing staff 
  • Help resolve conflict or any possibility of conflict among the staff/ community members to ensure long-term relationships for the organisation 

2.3 Leadership and Communications 

  • Represent Conscious Impact in different development-focused events and symposiums. 
  • Initiate networking and extended collaboration with non-profits sharing similar goals with the organisation 
  • Help build market possibilities for the agriculture program and Nepal-based volunteer programs for local-level funding for the organisation.
