Samata Foundation is a leading think tank committed to the marginalized community through research and evidence-based informed policy advocacy. Established in 2009, the Foundation is widely recognized as a hub for Dalit studies and its contributions to promoting equity, inclusion, and rights of marginalized groups in Nepal and the South Asia region.

The Foundation seeks an experienced Project Coordinator for a transnational project on climate change to be executed in Province 2 and Lumbini Province. The applicant should be keen to work for the economic and social resilience of the people affected by climate change in the Ganges-Brahmaputra Basin to improve their livelihood significantly.

Project Duration: 3 years
Work Station: Kathmandu with frequent field visits.

The Program Coordinator will work within a small, dynamic team to build the capacity of grassroots CSOs, liaise with government agencies to ensure access to climate-relevant government services, and engage in policy advocacy related to climate change and climate justice. The Project Coordinator shall develop networking skills from local to transnational levels, and conduct climate vulnerability and capacity analysis (CVCA).  

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience on projects related to climate change
  • Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Extremely well organized and detail-oriented;
  • Experience and the ability to manage priorities and juggle multiple demands;
  • Fluent in English and Nepali

Key Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Strong writing and editing skills in the English language;
  • Team player
  • Strategic and creative in approaches to tackling the impact of climate change

The employment category is time-based, with 1-year employment initially with the prospect of extension in the future. Remuneration is negotiable primarily determined by the experience of the applicant.
