Saathi is a non-governmental organization established in 1992 to address the different forms of violence and discrimination faced by Nepali women and girls. It was the first organization that was instrumental in drawing significant national attention towards domestic violence in Nepal as an area requiring urgent attention and intervention to break the silence that impacts the lives of many marginalized women and girls. It has persistently continued its crusade for creating a safe and violence-free society where women and children can live with respect and dignity.

Supervisor: Executive Chair/Board Member

Start Date: August 2019

End Date: One year, with initial probation period 

Location: Kathmandu (Require travel outside Kathmandu)

Primary Roles and responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Responsible for coordination, communication, planning, executing, monitoring, and reporting of the GBV against children interventions
  • Work closely with the team members; Support in necessary cooperation and coordination to plan, organize and implement the program activities 
  • Serve as the principal point of contact for the project in charge of and respond to request for information
  • Liaise and coordinate with concerned stakeholders, including Government and other development partners 
  • Coordinate and communicate on all matters pertaining to the smooth implementation of the programs
  • Assist in the development of advocacy and awareness raising strategies and messages
  • Prepare donor and organization reports and briefings
  • Develop materials for information, education and communications
  • Ensure that all projects activities are being performed as planned, and in accordance with contractual document
  • Keep abreast of relevant information at national and international levels
  • Represent the organization in different fora, events, network meetings 
  • Undertake any other assignments as delegated by the Executive Chair
  • Assist in fundraising efforts - develop concept paper and proposal 

Specific Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Overall Project Management
  • Conceptualizing, designing, developing, planning, executing, monitoring and closure of project, as per requirement
  • Ability to lead the project with minimum supervision and guidance
  • Maintain high quality and timely program activities 
  • Be responsible for overall financial management 

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit timely project reports in format required by funding agencies and contribute to Saathi’s Annual Report

Communication and Coordination

  • Develop materials for information, education and communications
  • Prepare donor briefings, and press releases in Nepali and/or English, as and when required
  • Coordinate project activities and ther services offered under the project
  • Develop and maintain strong internal relationships, as well as external networks with strategic government and non-government partners, including media 

Supervision

  • Supervise and support the project team and monitor their performance
  • Ensure that activities of team members are in line with spirit and objectives of Saathi and the project
  • Provide guidance in day to day management of Drop In Center (DICs)
  • Ensure the smooth operation and effective functioning of the DIC
  • Conduct regular staff meetings

Field Visit 

  • Undertake freqent field visits in project target areas, including adult entertainment establishments 

Confidentiality

  • Any information relating to beneficiaries acquired in the course of duty must be treated in the strictest confidence and discussed only within the team and with the appropriate members of staff. 

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree (or a combination of a Bachelor Degree and relevant experience) in a related field
  • Experience in and demonstrated understanding of the GBV and VAW&C issues 
  • Sound knowledge on issues of trafficking, safe migration, commercial sexual exploitation and sexual abuse, etc. 
  • At least seven years’ experience in GBV and VAW&C issues 
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Ability to act as a Saathi project spokeperson 
  • Ability and willingness to travel out of Kathmandu, as and where required
