Other Specification
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in program coordination or management, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Strong understanding of issues affecting the Dalit and HarawaCharawa communities.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in English writing, speaking and Maithili speaking.

Working Conditions:

The post will be based in office in Surunga Municipality,

The field area isSurunga Municipality, Khadak Municipality, Balanbihul Rural municipality, AgnisarKhadak municipality, Saptkoshi municipality in Saptari District

  • with frequent travel to program sites.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Ability to work in a challenging and changing environment.

Job Description

Job Title: Program Coordinator
Department: HarawaCharawa Empowerment Program
Office Location: Surunga Municipality in Saptari District
Reports To: Executive Director

Job Summary:

The Program Coordinator for the HarawaCharawa Empowerment Program at Janachetana Dalit Sangam will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program. The role involves managing day-to-day operations, coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring the program meets its objectives in empowering the HarawaCharawa community, and utilizing computer skills for efficient program management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Harawa Charawa Empowerment Program.
  • Develop and implement program strategies and activities in line with organizational goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate program progress and impact, ensuring alignment with set objectives.
  • Prepare and manage program budgets, ensuring financial resources are used effectively.
  • Utilize project management software to plan, track, and report on program activities.

2. Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, local authorities, donor agencies, partner organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with team members, volunteers, and other departments to ensure seamless program implementation.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions for stakeholders using digital tools.

3. Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on program activities, progress, and outcomes to the Executive Director and donor agency.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participants, and other relevant data using database management systems.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.

4. Community Engagement:

  • Conduct outreach activities to engage and mobilize the HarawaCharawa community.
  • Provide support and guidance to community members, helping them access resources and opportunities.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all program participants.

5. Capacity Building:

  • Identify training and development needs of program staff and community members.
  • Organize capacity-building workshops and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Support the professional development of team members.

6. Advocacy and Awareness:

  • Promote awareness of the HarawaCharawa Empowerment Program and its objectives.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of the HarawaCharawa community at local and regional levels.
  • Collaborate with media and other platforms to highlight program achievements and challenges.
  • The government should advocacy and advocate for the rehabilitation of HarawaCharawa, safe housing of them, quality education for their children.
  • Regular meetings of Harawacharawagroups and networks and assist in their capacity building.

7. Livelihood Development:

  • Design and implement livelihood initiatives tailored to the needs of the HarawaCharawa community.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, vocational training centers, and other partners to create employment opportunities.
  • Monitor and support participants in their livelihood activities, providing guidance and resources as needed.
  • To support the mobilization and capacity building of harawacharawa women savings groups.
  • To assist in managing the account sheets of women savings groups and agricultural cooperatives.

8. Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g.,Tallyand database management systems.
  • Ability to use digital communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Skype, Google Meet) for remote coordination and meetings.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools for creating promotional materials.
