Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree preferably in Environmental Science, forestry or equivalent
  • At least five years of work experience in environmental, biodiversity conservation, and climate change-based project cycle management, having two years of experience on project management.
  • Experience in multiple consortium partners handling, biodiversity conservation, IP and LCs, policy advocacy, market development, climate adaptative technologies and practices, and women and IPs empowerment will be value-added

Skills:

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, notably the ability to present complex issues and required action in a simple, relevant, appropriate, and practical way
  • Proficient in remote sensing techniques and adept at handling GIS applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire staff, partners, and other stakeholders with diverse backgrounds
  • Team player who can develop strong collaborative relations across the organization, partners, and communities
  • Proven experience or interest in organizing and facilitating trainings and workshops
  • Good communication skills with fluency [written and spoken] both in Nepali and English

Job Description

The successful candidate will work as a Project Coordinator on Biodiversity Conservation and Indigenous Peoples (IP) engagement in the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) region of Nepal. S/He will be responsible for overseen and implementation of activities on the assigned project to achieve the expected outcome of the project. S/he will work closely with indigenous people and local communities, local government, district chapter of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities NEFIN, ACAP and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the project's activities while promoting biodiversity and indigenous practices.

Roles and Responsibility:

  • The project coordinator will play a key role in implementation of the project in effective and efficient, in full compliance with YAE’s policies, associated procedures, guidelines and standards and the donor requirement as per the project contract. 
  • Conduct frequent field visit to project region and coordinate with the stakeholders and carry out field activities for the project.
  • Establish the close coordination and partnership with the local government, project partners and other stakeholders
  • Ensure that the project information and required reports and indicators are updated and submitted to the project manager.
  •  Coordinate with M&E officer to undertake baseline, regular monitoring surveys/reports and end line survey In coordination with the monitoring officer prepare monitoring matrix of the project and follow-up on regular basis
  • Prepare the year Detail Implementation Plan (DIP) in coordination with the other project team members.
  • Coordinate and conduct trainings/workshops
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly workplan and budget plan/cash flow of the project in regular basis and report to supervisor/donors in a timely basis in coordination with finance manager
  • Ensure the implementation of the project activities in accordance with the project documents and agreed work plans.
  • Ensure GESI mainstreaming and environmental safeguarding in each project activities
  • Develop ToR and lead the process of procurement of consultants, experts and other services if needed
  • Ensure that the targeted beneficiaries are reached and reflects the indicators/target mentioned in the proposal
  • Prepare risk matrix and flag up issues in project implementation and identify corrective/mitigating measures
  • Prepare safeguarding matrix for project activities and report on safeguarding to donor Coordinate/ facilitate the project’s associated events, workshops, meetings logistics and trainings
  •  Consider cost effectiveness and efficiency in every activity
  •  Ensure that contractual arrangements with partners are up to date
  • Ensure project activities are in compliance to the project proposal and log-frame
  • Conduct joint meetings periodically with the consortium partner.
