Roles and responsibilities of this job
We are looking for a creative, travel-loving (post-pandemic), open minded, and dedicated individual who can help us plan, organize, and execute our programs with various communities we visit and work with. The ideal candidate is someone interested in pursuing a career in Nepal’s creative industries, is interested in curating immersive learning experiences, can connect ideas and translate them into actions, and has an abiding love for storytelling in and across all forms.
Currently, Quixote’s Cove and Satori Center for the Arts are home to the U. S. Embassy’s Book Bus, the publishing imprint Safu, the literary magazine La.Lit, and the spoken word group Word Warriors. We run programs and projects at the intersection of the arts, literature, and education. The program coordinator will be responsible for implementing our programs and projects in collaboration with various communities, and will be a part of their conceptualization, design, and curation. The coordinator is expected to build strong relations with and within communities that we partner and collaborate with.
We are looking for someone who is a kind, motivated and creative individual, loves to read, can work independently within a team, is conscious of their emotions and the effects of their actions, loves the joys and challenges of traveling and working across Nepal, and values lifelong learning.
This is a full time position with a minimum two years commitment requirement. It is primarily Kathmandu based, but you will eventually get to travel (post-pandemic) around Nepal. We offer a salary based on skills and experience and are open to negotiation.
Women and gender non-conforming people from marginalized communities and those who are fluent in a language of Nepal other than Nepali are strongly encouraged to apply. However, a strong command of English is necessary as most correspondences and planning will be in English via online tools and platforms. Our work is rooted in creating safe spaces that are inclusive to different genders, sexualities, ethnicities, and abilities.
