  • Proven working experience as a procurement manager, preferably in a hotel/ restaurant/ hospitality company (at least 3+ years of experience)
  • Knowledge of and experience in procurement techniques, 
  • Good knowledge of vendors/ suppliers in the market for goods and services required in running restaurant/ hotel/ hospitality business. Network with them would be an added advantage
  • Research skills to discover suppliers
  • Negotiating abilities with suppliers and clients,
  • Good understanding of numbers and aptitude in collecting, analyzing data and decision making,
  • Leadership abilities and good communication skills (since this position would entail lot of co-ordination with various units under company’s management)
  • A degree in supply chain management, accounting or a general MBA would be a plus

Job Description

  • Identifying and understanding purchasing needs of the company/ units in terms of products required to be purchased, timelines, order quantities and optimum inventory levels that are required to be maintained
  • Developing and implementing strategies for procurement through a Procurement Policy, which meet the budgetary and operational requirements of the company/ units
  • Determine the needs for products/ services that need to be purchased by the company/ units on a regular basis, and determine exact specifications through interaction with employees of each of the units
  • Organizing and prioritization of the purchasing needs as per budgets available
  • Assessing costs of various purchases required to be made, and setting appropriate benchmarks on the basis of such cost analysis
  • Looking up available option for vendors in the market for the required purchases, and discovering profitable suppliers (pre-qualification)
  • Calling for quotations from different vendors (at least 3)
  • Comparing different offers regarding price and value (tender management)
  • Negotiating with vendors to secure long-term contracts 
  • Finalizing purchase details of orders and deliveries in terms of quantities and timing and preparation and sealing of contracts
  • Approving ordering of necessary goods and services
  • Monitoring and tracking purchase orders to ensure costs and delivery dates are in line with the agreed contracts
  • Managing storing and distribution of procured goods and services and maintaining desired stock levels
  • Continuously tracking market prices to identify cost reduction opportunities and forecasting changes in market price
  • Performing risk management for supply contracts and foreseeing unfavorable events
  • Developing relationship with key strategic suppliers, improving relations with existing suppliers, while finding new suppliers
  • Providing periodic reporting to management/ Board on purchasing, controls and processes
  • Teach and educate unit level managers and associates about procurement processes and systems that they need to follow
