Child Safeguarding: Level 3 - the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

We reached approximately two million populations and invested over 29 million US dollars in 2012 to reach more children than ever before, through program in Health, Nutrition, Education, Protection and Child Rights and Governance, Livelihood, TB, HIV/AIDS, and Humanitarian crises.

Case notification of all forms of TB has remained stagnant for last 10 years in Nepal. There are no significant changes in CNR even analyzed by region or by eco-terrain. Despite the implementation of various activities for case finding there is no significant changes in CNR. So NTC wants to know the actual prevalence of TB in Nepal. Understanding the real situation of Tuberculosis by conducting National TB prevalence survey is considered to be very useful for developing policy/plan and strategy of effective NTP in Nepal. So, NTC is conducting National TB Prevalence Survey under the supervision of NTC Director (Principal Investigator). Global Fund/Save The children Nepal is one of the supporting partners in implementing national TB prevalence survey in Nepal.

Under the direct supervision of Project Manager - TB, the Prevalence Surveillance Specialist will provide technical support in all of the stages of the prevalence survey from its design, to implementation to the production of its final report. 

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Prevalence Survey Specialist (PSS) is overall responsible to liaise among all central units at NTC and relevant Government of Nepal (GoN)/non-government stakeholders.
  • The incumbent is overall responsible to lead and manage the central data management unit.
  • Provide technical guidance to Prevalence Survey.
  • The incumbent is responsible to follow up on the results of X-ray, symptoms screening and lab results of all PS participants and organize/ facilitate the regular clinical panel unit meetings to discuss and decide upon these cases. The incumbent is also responsible to liaise with liaison Coordinator to provide and channelize feedback mechanism once decisions are made by the clinical panel.  
  • Provide technical support in finalizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training manual and other necessary documents for PS. 
  • Provide technical support in carrying out different trainings related to the prevalence survey. 
  • Review monitoring/supervision reports and provide appropriate feedback to central and operation level in close coordination with Survey Coordinator. 
  • Support Survey Coordinator for co-ordination; communication and technical support between PS outsource agency and other stakeholders (national/international) and NTC. 
  • Prepare and provide overall status report to the SC and PI on regular basis. 
  • Any other technical tasks as assigned by Survey Coordinator and PI. 

 


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :
Education

  • MBBS with Masters in Public health is required (A higher public health degree is desirable) 

Experience 

  • At least 7 years experience in public health (5 years for GSI group) with 5 years at national level program management (3 years for GSI group)
