Society of the Deafblind Parents (SDBP) is organization of parents of children with Deafblindness. SDBP is committed to empower the parents work to provide quality service on daily living skills, communication and education of children with deafblindness. Deafblind is a term that is used when a person has a combination of both vision and hearing impairment. Dual sensory loss or dual sensory impairment are other terms that are used to describe deafblindness.

Job Description

  • Provide physiotherapy sessions to children with deafblindness to enhance their mobility, posture, and overall physical well-being.
  • Conduct need assessments for children with deafblindness to design individualized therapy plans.
  • Generate and maintain detailed therapy reports, documenting progress and necessary interventions.
  • Offer training and guidance to parents of children with deafblindness, as needed, to support their child’s development at home.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of physiotherapy techniques and interventions, especially for children with deafblindness.
  • Ability to assess individual needs and design customized therapy programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with children with deafblindness, their parents, and a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with children with disabilities, multiple disabilities, especially deafblindness, is an advantage.
  • Additional certifications or training in special needs therapy are a plus.
