Job Description

Roles and responsibilities:  

  • Medication Management: Ensure the safe and effective use of medications within the hospital. This includes reviewing medication orders, verifying dosages, and advising healthcare providers on the appropriate choice and dosage of medications.
  • Clinical Support: Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide clinical support in patient care, including drug therapy monitoring, patient education, and the prevention of medication-related problems.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Oversee the hospital's pharmaceutical inventory, ensuring medications are properly stored, stocked, and dispensed. Monitor expiration dates and handle the ordering of medications to maintain adequate supply levels.
  • Patient Counseling and Education: Counsel patients on the proper use of their medications, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence to their prescribed regimen to improve patient outcomes.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all pharmacy operations comply with healthcare regulations, hospital policies, and safety standards. Regularly audit medication practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the hospital’s medication management processes.
