Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the cow farm. This includes tasks such as facilities and equipment management, pasture and feed management, staff management, animal welfare, financial management, environmental sustainability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

Operations:

  • Oversee and improve operations, establishing and driving production goals and developing organizational structures Plan, maintain, and oversee the management of the farm facilities.
  • Regulating and inspecting proper housing, clean water, and comfortable conditions for the cows.
  • Inspect regular health check-ups and timely veterinary care.
  • Overseeing the milking process and equipment to ensure efficient and hygienic milk production while ensuring milk safety and quality standards.
  • Managing the storage and handling of milk to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Staying updated with regulations and ensuring compliance adhering to animal welfare laws and guidelines.
  • Implementing animal welfare practices and adhering to ethical standards.

Financial Management:

  • Monitoring farm expenses and budgeting
  • Implementing cost control measures to optimize profitability
  • Tracking feed costs, veterinary expenses, and operational costs
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvement

People Management:

  • Hiring, training, and scheduling farm workers.
  • Supervising daily tasks and providing guidance to the team.
  • Fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
  • Ensuring effective communication and coordination among staff members.
  • Ensuring employee safety and compliance with labor laws.

Communication and Coordination

  • Responsible for the coordination of information and communication between all personnel.
  • Build and maintain relations with all governmental regulatory agencies and management and resolution of issues.
  • Work with all support departments such as quality assurance/quality control, maintenance, human resources, and accounting.
  • Coordinate with Feed Nutritionist and Veterinarian in the process of selecting and pairing animals for breeding, monitoring the pregnancy and birthing process, and overseeing the care of the newborns.
