Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable professionals for the Global Programme “Shaping development-oriented migration” (Migration entwicklungspolitisch gestalten, MEG). MEG assists partner countries in leveraging the benefits of regular migration and engaging diaspora for sustainable development. Working on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the MEG is active in 14 partner countries around the globe. It contributes towards implementing the GCM and is part of a comprehensive approach to migration and development.

The programme has four fields of action: 1) Regular Migration 2) Diaspora Cooperation 3) Mitigating precarious situations and enhancing the protection of migrants and 4) Global Partnerships. All the four fields of action are currently being implemented in Nepal.

Position: Office Support Staff 
Duty Station: Bhalubang
Expected joining date: 01 October 2024

Responsibilities:

  • Clean the office premises, rooms, furniture, carpets and windows
  • Check and refills supplies in all areas, including office supplies and articles in the washrooms and WCs
  • Set up and prepares the conference rooms as instructed
  • Supply the offices with hot and cold beverages and other catering services
  • Provide services at meetings, e.g. serves coffee and tea for guests and visitors
  • Report if stocks, e.g. of beverages are low, and need to be replaced
  • Payment of minor utilities and banking transaction
  • Support office or project logistics, e.g. takes letters to the post office or hands them to courier services 
  • Make photocopies and scans documents as needed 
  • Checks office supplies and restocks office materials
  • Run errands, e.g. buys lunch on request for office staff if and when required
  • Report damage to office areas and equipment, and organises and monitors maintenance and repair
  • Carry out minor repairs as required to keep office equipment operational.
  • Other works as assigned by supervisor

Required qualification and experience:

  • Primary School Education 
  • At least 5 years of working experience on similar position 
  • Ability to work with project staff, implementing partners staff, and vendors 
  • Basic understanding of English, fluency in Nepali 
  • Ability to work in a team environment 
  • Can ride motorbike and have valid license
