Job Description

Purpose: To manage and responsible for the successful implementation of WV NER Nutrition Pilot Program in Sindhupalchowk District through the Partner NGO.  

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a project work plan
  • Orientate Social Mobilisers, Field Officer, Heath Officer and Project Coordinator on intervention and project design
  • Coordinate with DME Officer and Accountability Officer for recruitment of participants into study and data collection
  • Conduct a short literature review of nutrition based programs and research in Nepal and abroad
  • Lead focus group discussions in Sindupalchowk to collect rich information about cultivation and eating practices of pregnant women
  • Train, support and monitor Social Mobilizers and PNGO Officers to implement intervention and collect appropriate data
  • Write analysis report from literature review and FGD results
  • Submit report to Sindhupalchowk DC and Health Advisor on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Input data to spreadsheet on a bi-weekly basis
  • Work with DME to analyzes results
  • Write final research report etc.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Masters of Public Health or Nutrition preferable, at least three years’ work experience, preferably within an NGO or in a field setting.
  • Good knowledge on the latest development thinking on Health and Nutrition programming, especially around behavior change and gold   standards
  • Clear and concise writing and analytical skills to capture data and write report
  • Basic understanding program cycle including project planning, design, monitoring, evaluation and experience working on grant funded programs
  • Experience of working with consultants / advisors, including from other countries as well as with Government officials
  • Have positive learning attitude and concern for the poor and vulnerable people with a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivation, confident and independent.
  • Understanding of interagency standards such as MISP, Mental Health Guidelines, Gender guidelines etc.
  • Strong background in Nutrition programming and research is desirable.
  • This position will be based in Sindhupalchowk but will require regular travel to Kathmandu (up to 30%) to ensure technical collaboration with Health Sector Manager and support functions.
