Mode of Delivery overview

Working at project location – In this role, you will provide on-site support in the project location and/or VSO office, (full-time unless otherwise specified) for a set period of time.

Role overview

The role is to enhance understanding of downstream partners including community volunteers on Gender transformation norms to reduce Gender Based Violence (GBV) and discrimination, and document harmful norms transformation practices at household, community, and authority level for GBV prevention and reduction

The NV is responsible for providing technical supports to promote accountability to the partners project team, develop the capacity on GTN to break the culture silence on harmful social norm practice.

Furthermore, support to accomplish the Preventing Gender Based Violence Through Transformative Gender Norms Change (PARIWARTAN) project’s outcomes is the specific purpose of this job.

Essential qualifications:

  • A Bachelor level University degree in relevant field, preferably in mass communication, gender studies, social work
  • Proven experiences working in diverse multicultural team.
  • Communicate fluently in local language

Communication and Influencing Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - able to listen, analyse, present, consult, negotiate with confidence and obtain stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to translate ideas into practical action.
  • Able to communicate complex issues effectively to wide range of audiences.
  • Experience of remote and cross-cultural communication, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural and language differences.
  • Excellent knowledge on using participatory tools and techniques

Desirable requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in working both at grassroots level and local authorities.
  • Able to accommodate in diverse socio-economic, and multicultural context

Technical Expertise:

  • Experience in conceptualizing and designing learning into communication materials would be an added advantage.
  • Information Technology Systems – Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and communication software
  • Good on Nepali typing

Allowance and Accommodation to volunteers at VSO

Allowance:

  • As a VSO volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full time basis. VSO will cover your travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home. You will also receive some financial support to contribute to your on-going expenses at home.

Accommodation:

  • VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.

VSO reserves the right to close this job early if we receive sufficient number of applications.
