Job Description

Work Purpose: To provide leadership to the organisation on the implementation of WVIN’s Maternal Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) strategy; MCHN technical advice at a national and district level; build the capacity of staff and WV partners in MCHN programming; and engage with external networks, stakeholders and donors for co-ordination, learning and advocacy. The other two key purposes of this role are: a) to support WVIN’s field office teams to apply good practice in the designs and b) to work with the DM&E and Operations to ensure learning on impact is captured and applied. This position will be based in national office but will be required to travel regularly to WVIN’s MCHN projects in various parts of the country (up to 30%).

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably Master’s Degree) in a health and nutrition related field from recognized University with at least 5 years experience in health programming or the equivalent in the headquarters of a major NGO with 5-10 years experience including knowledge on the latest development thinking on health programming with strong emphasis on child health.
Understanding and appreciation of health programming that takes an empowerment approach including community-led activities and advocacy with basic understanding on program cycle including project planning, design, monitoring and evaluation. Demonstrating high level networking, partnership and coordination ability with excellent analytical/problem-solving skills and detail orientation with good writing skills required to develop reports capturing good practice and learning. Working experience in a rural or remote district and preparing and leading training workshops. Operational experience with an INGO/NGO with understanding of strategy development and implementation, engaging international donors and Government staff on advocacy, funding of projects, partnering with private business, organisations or academic institutions to achieve greater impact on the lives of children with quality monitoring.

Competent in using MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint presentation, ability to operate effectively and sensitively in the cultural context of Nepal, willingness to commit to World Vision ethos, vision, mission and core values, self-motivated, confident, independent, creative with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, positive learning attitude and concern for the poor and vulnerable people, good report writing skills; with fluency in Nepali and English – both oral and written.
