Job Location: National Office, Lalitpur
Key Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to lead on providing economic development and youth-related programming technical support, capacity building and coordination across WVIN’s field staff. S/He will ensure Operations teams are equipped with the competencies and tools to effectively implement WVINs Youth and Economic Development Technical Programme and achieve related programme targets/strategic objectives. Specific regular tasks delivered by this position will include:
- Coordinate and provide technical support across Operations field staff to ensure adequate technical quality in the delivery of WVIN’s Technical Programmes (TP) for Youth & Economic Development, meeting minimum standards and targets
- Develop and implement annual in-field technical support plan for the sector which equips field staff with competencies and skills to implement the TP effectively
- Design and roll out technical training and orientations for field staff and PNGOs to equip them to effectively implement all youth & economic development related project models and program designs
- Lead on or contribute to drafting and rolling out (with technical oversight from Manager) technical guidance documents to equip Field staff PNGOs to implement the TP, including TP Implementation Guideline, Quality Benchmark, and contextualised project model tools
- Coordinate with MEALS to ensure appropriate analysis and programme results, including sharing of results and continuous improvement of programme design and implementation
- Contribute to design of youth & economic development related projects for each of WVIN’s Area Programs, including for institutional grant proposals for successful funding acquisition
- Provide support to Resilience Manager for external relationship building and engagement with government line agencies, national partners, private sectors and donors
Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:
- Bachelor degree in an Agriculture/ Youth & Economic Development related technical field (Master degree in the related field preferred)
- At least 5 years (for those with Master degree) or 8 years (for Bachelor) of field experience in managing agriculture/ economic development or youth related programming or in the headquarters of a major NGO, INGO, or government department
- Technical knowledge on Agriculture/ youth & economic and youth development programming, including a strong emphasis on local value chain development, youth empowerment, savings.
- Team building, collaboration, facilitation and leadership skills
- Thorough understanding and experience in Results-Based management, staff capacity development, development of community capacity and community-based organizations, linking of professional, academic and community-based learning models
- Good understanding of with development theory, poverty analysis and livelihood security frameworks; Value Chain Development, Making Markets Work for the Poor, Participatory Rural Appraisal/Participatory Learning & Action, Appreciative Inquiry, etc
- Understanding of Youth & Economic Development programming that takes an empowerment and facilitation and partnership approach
- Extensive experience and recognized expertise in models and methods of training, facilitation and capacity building, and organizational development for staff and communities
- Understanding programme logic, programme design, and programme cycle including project planning, design, monitoring, evaluation
- Demonstrated high capacity to coordinate effectively and build strong working relationships with wide range of people and departments
- Good analytical skills; ability to critically analyse results data and recommend programme improvements
- Good writing skills and ability to write/edit reports, contribute to grant proposals
- Experience in developing project technical designs including logframes, ITTs, detailed implementation plans including developing grant technical project proposals
- Experience coordinating teams and multiple staff
- Experience in designing and leading training workshops
- Experience working in a coordination role at national level
- Willingness to travel to rural and remote program locations frequently
- Must have excellent computer literacy & skill of MS office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
- Good interpersonal, problem solving & time management skills
- Willingness to work under pressure with tight deadlines and to travel
- Excellent oral and written English & Nepali
- Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility
- Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently
- Strategic, creative, collaborative and innovative thinking with decision making skills
- Good understanding of humanitarian Sector
