Position title: MWI In-Country Support Manager
Contract type: Fixed term contract (Female candidates are encouraged to apply)
Duration: 3 months (Possibility of extension) 
Duty station: Kathmandu 
Expected starting date: As early as possible
Number of positions: 1

Main responsibilities:

Key responsibility 1: Engagement with Nutrition Technical Committee (NuTeC) of Family Welfare Division, Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population 

  • Coordinate with NuTeC focal person to organize NuTeC/IMAM Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings for MWI 
  • Explore participation of multiple sectors in the TWG meetings 
  • Support planning for the TWG meetings, including generation of agenda and minutes
Key responsibility 2: Stakeholders mapping of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive services
  • Follow the concept note for the mapping process, and continue to identify existing data sources that can be capitalized on
  • Liaise with stakeholders to continue collection of information for mapping stakeholders
  • Collate and analyze the data to create simple maps and report
Key responsibility 3: Selection of MWI pilot locations
  • Develop and endorse pilot location (and number) selection criteria with the TWG
  • Support process for pilot location selection, potentially as a two-step process with districts initially followed by municipalities
  • Engage with local government and other stakeholders in pilot locations for discussion and sensitization on the MWI and explore their interest to take it forward
Key responsibility 4: Workshop planning and implementation
  • Agree on timing, participants and location for workshop with local stakeholders
  • Identify and plan for the collection of key data around the drivers of malnutrition which will feed into the workshop
  • Working with the MWI team and the TWG support with roll-out of the workshop
  • Develop the workshop report
Key responsibility 5: Develop key steps for 2024
  • Develop a work plan outlining key next steps for the MWI in Nepal for 2024 in consultation with TWG and relevant stakeholders
Qualifications and required skills:
  • Master’s degree in Public Health or Public Health Nutrition or equivalent with at least 4 years work experience in nutrition and public health of which 2 years should be in management role 
  • Experience of working in Community / Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (C/IMAM) is mandatory. 
  • Demonstrate experience in starting new initiatives 
  • Strong skills in coordination and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including Ministry of Health and Population, nutrition cluster, nutrition sensitive/adjacent sectors, and other partners 
  • Strong communications skills (both written and verbal) at a level appropriate for working with government and other high- level stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze diverse information and develop recommendations for an appropriate response to emergencies 
  • Demonstrate capacity in delivering high quality workshops
  • Ability to travel around Nepal as required
