FHI 360, an international NGO, requests applications from the qualified individuals for working as short-term and long-term consultants for an anticipated COVID-19 Emergency Response under Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Nepal with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with Ministry of Health Population (MoHP). The period for this assignment is from May to October 2021 with possibility of extension. These positions are subject to approval of COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan and availability of funding.

Master’s degree (MSc/MD) in Microbiology
Expertise in nucleic acid extraction and Real Time (RT) PCR
Operation of automated RNA/DNA extraction system
Independent handling of the microbiology laboratory
Good knowledge of bio risk analysis and risk assessment in the laboratory
Experience in implementation of laboratory quality management system in the molecular laboratory.
Experience in COVID-19 PCR lab would be an advantage

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Plan laboratory activities for efficient and optimal service delivery
Engage in conducting and improvement of Laboratory process for COVID-19 diagnosis (PCR, gene expert etc.)
Provide training to health care workers (HCW) on COVID-19 diagnostics and result interpretation
Planning and designing of new or upgrading existing facilities
Perform COVID-19 testing and reporting
Support validation work related to PCR
Maintain documentation related to COVID-19 testing
Supervise medical laboratory technologists and technicians for COVID-19 testing activities
