Job Description

The Math Mentor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of the KUMON in-school program across multiple schools in Nepal. This role involves guiding and training KUMON class teachers, motivating students, and ensuring the overall quality of the program. The learning facilitator will also act as a Math Assessment Specialist, analyzing student progress, and developing creative solutions to enhance learning outcomes. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a passion foreducation, and the ability to think creatively to improve student engagement and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teacher Training and Support:

  • Train KUMON class teachers on effective teaching methodologies, including how to guide and motivate students.
  • Provide strategies to address student mistakes or behavioral issues in a constructive manner.
  • Encourage teachers to create an interactive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Conduct regular teacher training sessions to ensure continuous improvement in teaching quality.

2. Student Guidance and Motivation:

  • Observe and interact with students to understand their learning habits and progress.
  • Praise and encourage high-performing students to maintain their motivation.
  • Identify struggling students and provide tailored solutions to help them improve.
  • Develop and implement creative ideas, such as games, competitions, or interactive activities, to make learning fun and engaging (e.g., once every two months).

3. Classroom Quality Assurance:

  • Regularly visit assigned schools to monitor the quality of the KUMON program.
  • Ensure that teachers are adhering to KUMON methodologies and maintaining a productive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to teachers and school administrators for improvement.

4. Math Assessment Specialist Duties:

  • Correct and evaluate math problems completed by students during free time.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct case studies on individual students to understand their learning patterns and challenges.
  • Develop and recommend personalized solutions to address specific student needs.

5. Creative Problem-Solving and Innovation:

  • Think creatively to develop new ideas and strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Introduce innovative teaching tools, techniques, or activities to keep the classroom dynamic and interesting.
  • Collaborate with the KUMON team to implement new initiatives or improvements to the program.

6. School Visits and Scheduling:

  • Conduct regular visits to schools during the initial 3 months to establish the program and build relationships with teachers and students.
  • After the initial phase, visit each assigned school once or twice a week on a rotational basis.
  • Manage time effectively to cover multiple schools and ensure consistent support.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Improvement in student performance and engagement.
  • Positive feedback from teachers and school administrators.
  • Successful implementation of creative ideas and activities in the classroom.
  • Timely and accurate completion of math assessments and case studies
