Market Development Officer

Vertical Biodiversity Fund (VBF) is a conservation-based social enterprise incorporated under the Companies Act, 2063. Operating in Koshi Province since 2017, VBF collaborates with farmers, youth, local communities, and stakeholders to protect the natural environment and support organic farming practices through an eco-friendly permaculture model of agriculture. In partnership with KTK-BELT, VBF aims to develop as a leading Nepali conservation enterprise and implement the “Vertical University project.”

Scope of Work

Market Development Officer will report to the Chairperson, Board members, Program Officer, and Farm Coordinator of VBF. The role includes developing and implementing marketing strategies and sales plans, along with quarterly, semi-annual and annual budgets and progress reports, to ensure target achievement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement marketing and sales plans for organic farm products, including pricing strategies.
  • Execute promotional activities aligned with project goals.
  • Strengthen supply chains and connect last-mile agents with enterprises.
  • Identify and expand business opportunities for farm’s products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local governments, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Maintain customer relations and up-to-date records/documents.
  • Drive business development through area mapping and lead generation.
  • Provide sales forecasts through weekly or biweekly pipelines.
  • Maintain a customer database with feedback and interactions.
  • Log and evaluate service requests and customer suggestions.
  • Analyze customer feedback and communicate necessary actions to relevant teams.
  • Set budgets and production targets for the farm.
  • Achieve assigned sales and commercial targets.
  • Communicate effectively with the Farm Coordinator regularly.
  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategies.
  • Prepare SWOT analysis reports for farm’s products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum bachelor degree in management (BBA/BBS or other equivalent) with concentration area on marketing.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in marketing, distribution, sales strategy development, branding, or packaging.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation capabilities.
  • Proficient in English and Nepali.
  • Strong networking abilities across various market segments.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Result-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Proactive team player with a flexible and hands-on approach.
  • High personal integrity and awareness of gender and caste sensitivity.

Remuneration

Negotiable, commensurate with relevant skills and experience.
