Manager- Faculty Lead

MAW Skills Academyis an initiative of MAW Enterprises under its subsidiary MAW Earthmovers Pvt. Ltd. (MEPL) with distributorship of premium automobile companies including JCB in the heavy earthmoving and construction sector since 1964. MAW Skills Academy, in association with UCEP Nepal and Citizen Prabidhik Sikshyalaya, is mandated by FCDO Skills for Employment Programme (सीप) to deliver skills development training for employment in heavy equipment operation and maintenance during the pilot phase in three provinces (Province 2, Bagmati Province and Lumbini Province) and with three major outputs: (i) Increased access to employment-linked high-quality training and certification for target population, especially disadvantaged groups in underserved regions; (ii) At least 900 youth, particularly those from underserved geographies and target group, mobilized, trained, certified, and employed at least 80%; and (iii) Increased and improved employer/industry engagement in the TVET system and cross-sectoral institutional linkages. The project has been implemented in a unique model of partnership between private employer/service provider and training institutes with the intention of providing affordable, industry-aligned skills training, certification, and employment in heavy equipment operation while also upgrading the capacity of the training institutes.

The Role: Manager-Faculty Lead will be responsible for overall coordination and to support implementation of the MAW Skills Academy activities in all Training Centres located on Janakpur, Bhaktapur and Nepalgunj ensuring adherence to annual business plan.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Vocational Education/Management/Social Science or in relevant field
  • Minimum of five years of work experience in similar role in academy/college/school or in relevant field 
  • Knowledge and work experience of vocational and skills development would be an advantage
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team to deliver high quality outputs within deadlines
  • Prior work experience with government agencies (federal, provincial and local government) and private sectors (Employers, employers’ organizations)
  • Proficiency in MS Office work 
  • Willingness and ability to frequent field visits to Janakpur and Nepalgunj and/or other designated locations in Nepal

Job Description

  • Overall lead in coordination of all the training deliveries through training centres under the MAW Skills Academy
  • Establish and consult with academy partners and stakeholders and ensure their adequate participation at all stages of the academy operation
  • Coordinate with CTEVT for the curricula to be delivered and collaborate with NSTB/NVQA for skill test to trained youth
  • Ensure all guidelines and requirements of national vocational qualifications are adhered to consistently and without exception
  • Lead the faculty team in all training centres and set the vision and ethos to raise academic standards
  • Contribute to training centre developments and produce a Training Improvement Plan that reflects training centres’ priorities
  • Work with the CEO to ensure that staff development needs are identified and supported
  • Lead and partake on Performance Management within the faculty including lesson observations
  • Monitor learning behaviour across Training Centers under the academy and take appropriate action
  • Lead curriculum development within the team
  • Ensure that instructors are following agreed curriculum policies and that appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment and teaching and learning strategies are in place in the training centers
  • Ensure that the improvement plan’s targets are kept in sustained focus throughout the year’s cycle
  • Ensure that monitoring of teaching and learning takes place to ensure common standards across the team and that action follows from the conclusions drawn
  • Liaise with outside agencies as appropriate such as provincial and local government, industries and actively support the academy’s enterprise and partnership work
  • Advise the CEO on staffing deployment and participate as required in staff appointments
