An upcoming dairy is seeking the services of a Logistics & Milk Procurement Officer who will be overseeing the entire milk procurement process (from Farm to Factory) and the efficient delivery of finished dairy products to vendors and outlets.
The role shall cover all aspects of milk procurement – guaranteeing quality, supply consistency, cultivating robust supplier relationships and ensuring timely & cost-effective procurement of milk to fulfill daily production needs, alongside managing product distribution.
Responsibilities:
1. Milk Procurement Operations
Plan, manage and execute milk procurement to meet daily production requirements.
Develop strategic sourcing methods to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of milk.
Monitor milk collection centres to ensure strict adherence to quality standards.
Ensure milk consistently meets the company's stringent quality standards (as per SoP)
Collaborate with the Quality Control team to conduct regular checks on milk samples.
2. Relationship Management
Establish and maintain robust relationships with farmers, milk cooperatives, logistics network and industry stakeholders.
Ensure company CSR activities at the grassroots level are well managed i.e. Best Practice Initiatives, etc.
3. Data and Documentation
Maintain comprehensive daily records on milk procurement, including volumes, sources and costs.
Analyse procurement data to forecast future requirements and refine procurement strategies for optimal efficiency.
4. Team Coordination and Reporting
Supervise and provide training to field procurement staff to enhance overall efficiency and productivity.
Coordinate with to ensure smooth and timely transportation of milk to the processing unit and plan for any contingencies which may arise.
Coordinate to ensure smooth and timely delivery of dairy products to all vendors including own outlets and plan for any contingencies which may arise.
Ensure full compliance with all local regulations and company SoP’s related to all aspects of procurement and product distribution.
Provide regular, detailed reports on procurement and logistics to the General Manager.
Other Specification:
5 – 10 years of experience in milk procurement or dairy operations, with significant experience in logistics and distribution of perishable goods being a strong advantage.
Bachelor's degree in Dairy Technology, Business Management or a related field are highly preferred.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Familiarity in working with Government departments related to dairy and other stakeholders.
Familiarity with milk centres within the country along with a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with farmers and cooperatives with understanding of the dairy industry and the entire milk supply chain in Nepal, including both raw material procurement and finished product distribution.
Comprehensive knowledge of milk quality testing techniques and standards..
Knowledge of logistics and distribution networks for perishable goods.
