Kharel Law Group, operating under the brand Emigrate Lawyers, is an Australian-based legal practice providing services primarily in Australian migration and family law.

Our Kathmandu team works closely with Australian lawyers and legal professionals, supporting legal research, drafting, case preparation, document review, client communication and file management.

We are seeking capable, professional and detail-oriented Legal Officers who are genuinely interested in building a long-term career in an international legal and corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Legal Officer, you will support Australian lawyers and senior legal staff in the preparation and management of legal matters.

Conducting legal research and assisting with case preparation.
Drafting and reviewing correspondence, legal submissions, statements, applications and other legal documents.
Reviewing client documents and evidence for accuracy, completeness and inconsistencies.
Organising evidence and preparing matters for legal review and lodgment.
Assisting with client onboarding, information gathering and document requests.
Communicating professionally with clients in English and Nepali, as required.
Responding to client enquiries and following up for information or outstanding documents when necessary.
Maintaining accurate client files, records and correspondence.
Updating CRM, case-management and document-management systems.
Preparing legal notes, research summaries and other case-related documents.
Ensuring assigned work is completed accurately, professionally and within required deadlines.
Following the firm’s procedures, quality-control standards and internal workflows.
Learning and adapting to the legal technology, systems and processes used by the firm.

Training will be provided on the firm’s systems, procedures and relevant Australian migration and family law processes.

Bachelor’s Degree in Law (BA.LLB, LLB or equivalent).
Valid Nepal Bar Council license.

Experience

At least 1 year of relevant legal or professional experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Strong legal research, analytical and drafting skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Fluent spoken and written English.
Good computer literacy and confidence learning CRM, case-management, document-management and other legal technology.
Confidence communicating professionally with clients in both English and Nepali.
Genuine interest in working in a professional corporate environment and meeting the firm's expectations, standards and deadlines.
Strong organisational and file-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritise tasks and work effectively under time-sensitive deadlines.
Professional judgement when handling confidential and sensitive client information.
Ability to learn new legal concepts, procedures and systems quickly.
Proactive approach to client communication, including seeking clarification, requesting information and following up when required.
Willingness to take responsibility for assigned work and maintain a consistently high professional standard.
Reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic.
Willingness to receive and apply feedback.
Genuine interest in Australian migration law, family law and international legal services.

Working Hours: 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with Saturdays and Sundays off.
