Job Description

A legal officer shall be responsible for ensuring that the company's activities comply with all applicable laws and regulations. They may provide legal advice and support to various departments within the company, review and negotiate contracts, and participate in the development of corporate policies and procedures. They may also handle legal disputes and liaise with external legal counsel. Overall, the legal officer plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company operates within legal and regulatory frameworks while protecting its interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal advice and guidance to the company on various legal matters, such as contracts, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and employment law.
  • Execute and manage compliance under relevant laws
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the legal department, including but not limited to: seeking providing guidance on legal matters such as workplace policies, contract negotiations, and litigation
  • Maintains files and records related to the organization's legal proceedings and contracts
  • Provide Legal Advice Using oral or written platforms, Legal Officers will be expected to brief team of staff members on legal issues, potential liabilities and possible courses of actions
  • Acting as the first contact point in obtaining legal instructions / advice to ensure the activities are compliant within the framework of Nepalese Law.
  • To take overall responsibility for the effective management including drafting and negotiation of a large volume of contracts across the range of the company’s activities
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies, to ensure they comply with relevant laws and regulations
  • Managing and resolving legal disputes and litigation, including working with external legal counsel as necessary
  • Conducting legal research and keeping up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that could affect the company
  • Providing legal training to other employees to ensure they are aware of relevant legal issues and compliance requirements
  • Collaborating with other departments within the company, such as finance, HR, and operations, to ensure legal compliance and risk management
  • Coordinate with relevant government agencies and other institutions on behalf of the organisation
  • Advising on corporate governance and regulatory matters, such as board of directors' meetings, annual reports, and compliance with securities laws
  • Developing and implementing legal strategies to protect the company's interests and mitigate legal risks
  • Maintaining legal records and documentation, and ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate

Note: All the duties are responsible may be changed according to the need of the department. Department Heads will be supervised and train as per the need.
