Have you heard of the “Book Free Friday” initiative of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)? Well, every Friday students don’t study their regular textbook but are engaged in various life skills through experiential learning.

We are looking for youths who are passionate about bringing change in the way learning happens on Book Free Friday in public schools of Kathmandu. It’s a fantastic opportunity for you to share your knowledge and impart skills to young minds. Through the Karkhana STEAM fellowship program you can develop your own leadership skills and pedagogical understanding while earning. As a Karkhana STEAM fellow, you are expected to engage about thirty students of grades 4 to 8 every Friday for at most three hours in collaboration with the focal teacher assigned by KMC. You will go through a workshop to skill you up, followed by refresher workshops every month. This is a part time engagement so applicants can utilize their free time by joining this fellowship.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

Attend a pre-training workshop to be ready to deliver STEAM experiences.
Take responsibility for the materials for conducting STEAM classes.
Coordinate with the designated focal teacher at the public school to run the STEAM classes.
Commute to school and Deliver STEAM sessions for 3 hours every Friday at the designated school and time.
Conduct the STEAM experience as per plan and report the checklist to Karkhana.
Attend a refresher workshop every month.
