Job Description

The Junior Pastry Chef assists the pastry team for The Desert Republic Nepal in creating high-quality baked goods, desserts, and pastries, while maintaining kitchen hygiene and adhering to recipes and food safety standards. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for pastry arts, creativity, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Pastry Preparation and Production:

  • Assist in the preparation of pastries, cakes, cookies, breads, and other baked goods.
  • Follow recipes and instructions provided by the Head Pastry Chef.
  • Decorate and finish desserts with precision and creativity.

Kitchen Operations:

  • Ensure workstations are clean, organized, and stocked with ingredients.
  • Operate and maintain pastry equipment, such as mixers, ovens, and tools.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify senior chefs of required stock replenishments.

Quality Control:

  • Maintain consistent quality and presentation of all products.
  • Conduct taste tests to ensure flavors and textures meet the standards.
  • Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste.

Food Safety and Hygiene:

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure ingredients are fresh and stored correctly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the pastry area.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the pastry team to meet daily production schedules.
  • Assist with the creation of new menu items under the guidance of the Head Pastry Chef.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for menu improvement.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced commercial kitchen.
  • Standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects.
  • Exposure to heat, cold, and kitchen equipment.
