Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable professionals for the position of Junior Coordinator for the Programme “Migration and Diaspora” (PMD). Programme Migration & Diaspora harnesses the positive impact of regular migration and diaspora engagement to drive forward social and economic development in partner countries. The programme works on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is implemented by the Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM), a joint operation of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the International Placement Services (ZAV) of the German Federal Employment Agency. Through its different components, the programme supports a) highly skilled Nepali professionals in Germany in long term return and reintegration or short-term volunteer engagement at host institutions in the home country and b) Nepali diaspora organizations in implementing development projects in the home country

Duty Station: Kathmandu
Responsibilities:
Inform and advise experts and students in Germany (by email/ telephone/skype or in person) on employment opportunities and topics that pertain to their return or their social and professional integration
Act as point of contact in acquiring participants for introductory seminars in Germany offering information about the economic situation in the home country, challenges and opportunities in Nepal for potential returnees, diaspora organizations and diaspora experts
Network between development-relevant employers, returning experts and alumni
Support in capacity development and promotion of pro-developed projects of Diaspora organisations (DiO) in Nepal
Inform and advise DiO and partner organizations on the promotional offers and processes
Link local partner organizations with DiO in Germany with the view of establishing partnerships for potential project implementation
Support and promote the development-relevant contribution of Diaspora Experts (DE) in Nepal
Acquire specific offers for development-related short-term assignments with Nepali partner institutions
Support the monitoring processes in all the areas of action implemented in Nepal and the associated activities
Prepare country-specific print and digital Public Relation materials as well as case sheets for PR work (e.g. CIM News, website, impact stories)
Maintain the informal Nepal specific social network groups in different platform and ensure effective communication
Prepare official travel related to the Migration for Development Programme by staff from GIZ Head Office and, if appropriate, by partners and accompany them in the partner country
Provide logistical support in conduction of various CIM PMD events
Support the senior Coordinator in all necessary task over different components as per the requirement
Required Qualifications and Experience:
University degree in Management/Law/Economics/Social Sciences or any other relevant field
Minimum 2 years of professional working experience in comparable position
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills
Understanding about migration and employment issues, especially in a cooperation development framework
Able to work on own initiative and with limited supervision
Strong exposure with German alumni circles and diaspora communities
Ability to work in an international and multicultural team
Excellent German and English language skills, both written and oral
Excellent command of MS-Office
Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems
