Job Description

The IT Support Technician is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for computer systems, printers, and related peripherals. This role ensures optimal performance and operation of IT equipment and assists in software and hardware updates and configuration. The IT Support Technician will also document processes, manage help desk requests, and ensure availability of necessary stock of IT supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Support and Troubleshooting

  • Provide basic troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of computer equipment, including cables and accessories.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on personal computers and peripherals.
  • Offer technical assistance and respond to help desk support requests promptly.

2. Printer Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting for company printers,including cartridge changes and printer installations.
  • Manage printer sharing across the company network and ensure printer functionality.

3. System Maintenance and Configuration

  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and upgrade of desktop computers,peripherals, and software.
  • Add or update workstations for office staff and assign appropriate security levels.
  • Conduct routine PC maintenance and software updates to maintain performance efficiency.

4. Documentation and Knowledge Base

  • Prepare and maintain Knowledge Base documents as required for troubleshooting procedures and IT processes.
  • Document and supervise help desk support requests and resolutions.

5. Stock and Equipment Management  

  • Send equipment quotations to the Operations department when necessary.
  • Maintain and manage stock levels of IT supplies, ensuring availability for replacements and upgrades.

6. Collaboration and Training

  • Provide technical assistance and training to office staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members on software and hardware upgrade projects and share best practices.
