Job Description

Cedar Gate Services is looking for an IT Engineer to work in the Infrastructure Department to provide rapid and useful technical assistance.

Job Summary

The IT Engineer will respond to inquiries regarding technical issues and resolve them. A competent IT Engineer must have good technical knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively to understand a problem and articulate its solution. The candidate must also demonstrate a customer-oriented approach and patience in handling challenging user interactions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users via tickets, email, or in-person interactions.
  • Utilize ticketing systems, such as JIRA, to log, track, and prioritize support requests.
  • Provide assistance to users seeking technical support for desktop and application-related issues.
  • Conduct troubleshooting processes and to identify the root cause through best practice diagnostic techniques, available data, research, and customer input.
  • Research and implement IT security and processes.
  • Develop familiarity with IT asset management systems to track and manage hardware and software inventory.
  • Develop and update processes and procedures, and effectively communicate technical materials and documentation.
  • Grant least privilege access to resources upon formal request from supervisors.
  • Undertake other duties and projects as assigned by management.
  • Automate the day-to-day Infrastructure IT tasks.

Job Specification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in MS Office 365 and Active Directory
  • Proven experience in an IT or technical support role
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems
  • Experience using ticketing systems, such as JIRA, for incident tracking and resolution.
  • Knowledge of IT asset management systems
  • Experience with monitoring and management tools such as Tanium, Absolute, and Observium is a plus.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using Shell and Python
  • Basic knowledge of cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Ability to multitask and problem-solve.
  • Sound English proficiency skills
