Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable candidates to work with Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP)- Green Recovery and Empowerment with Energy in Nepal GREEN. REEEP-GREEN is a technical cooperation project agreed between the Government of Nepal (GoN) and the Federal Republic of Germany. With support of GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union, REEEP-GREEN is executed by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and sets out to improve the preconditions for planning and implementation of measures for the promotion of renewable energies and the efficient use of energy in Nepal. The main objective of REEEP-GREEN is to create the regulatory, institutional, and private-sector conditions for disseminating renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in Nepal. REEEP-GREEN uses a multi-level approach consisting of five output areas: Output 1: Policy- Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) at National Level; Output 2: Institutional Frameworks for RE and EE at Subnational Levels; Output 3: Sustainable Market Development for RE; Output 4: Dissemination of Results in the field of RE and EE; and Output 5: Energy Efficiency in Industries and Enterprises.

Duty Station: Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS), Kathmandu

Duration: 01.12.2020 – 30.11.2023

Responsibilities:

  • Support MoICS in TIP/investment component implementation, coordination and reporting
  • Ensure that the key concerns of the trade and investment sector are well addressed by the facility
  • Increase trade and participation in regional and global value-chains
  • Improve the investment climate for attracting Foreign Direct Investment
  • Improve the trade and investment coordination strategy elaborated and agreed between country partners and development partners
  • Assist the Facility Director/Team Leader in his/her contacts, helping to reach the right persons and obtain the right information

Required Qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Trade, Investment, Economics, Management, international Development, or other relevant subject
  • At least 10 years of experience in managing programmes and/or advising as a consultant in the area of trade and investment
  • Proven experience and expertise in Investment and FDI related issues
  • Previous experience of EU Preferential Trade Agreements (including EBA, GSP, GSP+) and EUs External Investment Plans (blending, guarantees and investment climate) will be an asset
  • Experience of interacting with the Nepalese public administration, in particular Ministries related to FDI facilitation and trade would be an asset
  • Experience of similar projects or set-up would be an asset
  • Experience in green finance / green economy would be an asset
  • Experience in trade and investment projects promoting gender equality and social inclusion would be an asset
  • Excellent Nepali and English expression both orally and in writing
