Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Internship, Placement, and Alumni Officer is responsible for developing and managing internship programs, facilitating career development opportunities for students, and maintaining strong relationships with alumni. The role involves collaboration with employers, alumni, and educational partners to provide students with internship and placement opportunities, while also supporting alumni engagement through various programs and events.

Key Responsibilities:

Internship Program Development:

Lead the development and implementation of a robust internship program for students.
Identify, establish, and maintain partnerships with employers both nationally and internationally to create internship opportunities.
Conduct site visits to assess the relevance and suitability of internship placements, ensuring they meet academic and career development standards.
Work with students to secure appropriate internships that enhance their academic experiences and provide valuable job search skills.

Student Career Development

Counsel and advise students on career planning, job search strategies, resume writing, interview techniques, and employment opportunities.
Provide guidance on individual assessments, educational choices, and career development plans.
Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions to equip students with skills needed for successful job placement.
Facilitate student participation in career fairs, recruitment events, and other career- related activities on campus.

Employer and Alumni Relations

Proactively develop and nurture relationships with employers, industry partners, and alumni to promote career progression for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Collaborate with organizations such as IAESTE to explore international traineeship and internship opportunities.
Develop and strengthen alumni chapters, creating engagement opportunities through academic programs and events.
Manage alumni databases and maintain communication with alumni to foster a strong network.

Event Coordination and Management

Plan, coordinate, and attend events related to internships, placements, and alumni engagement, such as career fairs, graduation ceremonies, alumni reunions, and recognition banquets.
Assist in organizing international mobility programs and support students in participating in global internships and exchange programs.
Represent the institution at various community, business, and educational meetings to promote programs and partnerships.

Administrative and Data Management

Compile and analyze data related to internship placements, career services, alumni engagement, and program outcomes.
Coordinate documentation for credit transfers, student internship letters, and other required materials.
Maintain accurate records of student participation, internship sites, alumni contacts, and partner institutions.
Prepare reports, proposals, and post-event evaluations for management review.

Collaborative Responsibilities

Work closely with faculty, staff, and external partners to integrate career services into the curriculum.
Assist the Student Services Department in various activities, including classroom coordination, student counseling, and providing information to students.
Support the coordination of international programs such as the 2+2 program, credit transfers, and visa documentation for study abroad initiatives.

Training and Supervision

Train and supervise student interns, volunteers, or temporary staff supporting career and alumni services.
Provide mentorship and guidance to ensure successful execution of departmental activities and initiatives.
