REEEP-GREEN is a technical cooperation project agreed between the Government of Nepal (GoN) and the Federal Republic of Germany. With support of GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union, REEEP-GREEN is executed by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and sets out to improve the preconditions for planning and implementation of measures for the promotion of renewable energies and the efficient use of energy in Nepal. The main objective of REEEP-GREEN is to create the regulatory, institutional, and private-sector conditions for disseminating renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in Nepal. REEEP-GREEN uses a multi-level approach consisting of five output areas: Output 1: Policy- Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) at National Level; Output 2: Institutional Frameworks for RE and EE at Subnational Levels; Output 3: Sustainable Market Development for RE; Output 4: Dissemination of Results in the field of RE and EE; and Output 5: Energy Efficiency in Industries and Enterprises.

Duration: 6 Months
Working location: Kathmandu, Nepal
Reports to: Portfolio Management Officer/ Head of Administration

Objective of the internship: 

The intern will benefit from the experience of working for and learning from a bilateral technical cooperation agency while gaining an insight into the project cycle and the related negotiation and management processes in the cooperation for sustainable development.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of Portfolio Management Officer and the Head of Administration who are supporting the Country Director intern shall assist in the topics related to commission management, project portfolio, the strategic planning at the country level and its implementation, external and internal communication and in various day-to-day tasks. Typical tasks will include:

  • Coordination, preparation, and follow-up of management meetings and other internal planning and strategic workshops
  • Support quality assurance when reporting to clients
  • Research for, compile and finalize background papers, internal documents, and guidelines
  • Support organization of PR-related events
  • Prepare presentations and fact sheets on specific topics
  • Support planning and logistics of delegation visits to GIZ Nepal’s project sites
  • Supporting the team in organizational aspects and takeover of short-term tasks

General Requirements: 

  • Less than one year of professional experience is required
  • Bachelor’s degree, in Administration, Economics, Political Science or other relevant disciplines; ideally a recent graduate from German institution
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player 
  • Good knowledge of English and Nepali (both verbal and written) and knowledge of German language
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of graphic designing (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop) will be an asset
