Street Child is an international charity based in the United Kingdom that aims to create avenues for out-of- school children to access education by through an integrated approach that strengthens the capacity of teachers, schools and communities to sustain their investment in the education for their children.

Following the devastating earthquakes in April and May 2015 that left more than 1 million children out of school and destroyed or damaged over 50,000 classrooms, Street Child UK expanded its operations into Nepal to assist local partners to re-establish education in some of the country’s worst affected communities. 

With the support of DFID, it is now implementing education and livelihood program targeting marginalized girls in Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari and Sunsari districts in Nepal.Street Child of Nepal is therefore calling applications in following position for the implementation of its new program:

Job Description

Reports To : Country Director
Working Hours : Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:30 pm

Objective/Purpose of the Position:
The Information Management Officer is the key person in managing, collecting, streamlining and storing all the pertinent data and information onto a secure and manageable manner. The Information Management Officer is responsible to facilitate the effective and efficient operation of various measures and tools necessary to ensure the proper storage and management of data and information, by the utilization of best practice, new innovations and technical expertise in all areas of information management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that data is collected, validated, complete and consistent
  • Ensure all the collected data has been stored onto the server as per reported by Field
  • coordinator and communication team
  • Regular work on database software and update data on the system and also do the necessary correction
  • Documentation and maintenance of data and information pertinent to all programmes
  • Perform basic analyses using statistical software’s such as MS Excel, MS Access, SPSS, STATA, EPI-Info etc
  • Design formats and templates for data entry, archiving and retrieval
  • Present data in numerical and visual form for analysis and sharing 
  • Support in establishing procedures for identifying problems and inconsistencies in field center data management, field data collection activities and resolving the problems
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency at entry and identify problems at various level including the questionnaires, entry methods, interview, and software
  • Participate in the development, implementation and review of information management needs and solutions
  • Other additional duties as the research project evolve

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in Information Technology, Demography, Public Health, Health Sciences, Population Studies, Statistic, or relevant discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in data management preferably involving data collection, data cleaning and data analyses from large populations. Substantial knowledge and experience in data management.
  • Knowledge of different data collection methodologies. Proven skills to analyse statistical information
  • Ability to formulate IM-related technical requirements and Operating Procedures. 
  • Ability to translate planning-specifications into technical briefs for data capture and analysis, and vice versa
  • Languages: Excellent knowledge of English and Nepali
