Other Specification
  • A formal engineering qualification (Bachelor’s Degree, Masters) – likely to be Mechanical or  Civil based 
  • IELTS C1 / C2 English language written & spoken  
  • 7+ years’ experience with a contractor or Engineering consultancy 
  • Experience of working or studying in UK with knowledge of UK codes desirable • A good knowledge of engineering quantities and programmes 
  • Knowledge of the Layout, General Arrangement and detail of Concrete structures would be an  advantage 
  • Good ability with engineering calculations and design reports 
  • High proficiency in M365 and SharePoint 
  • Able to work within a dynamic environment with good attention to detail 
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and self-manage priorities against multiple tasks 


Job Description

  • Specialist in Hydropower design and engineering
  • A good knowledge of other energy systems and hybrids
  • Outline and/or detailed design and specification of hydropower projects taking including the  civil, electrical and mechanical interfaces. 
  • Examining the engineering requirements of designs and comparing this with the commercial  and site constraints. 
  • Creation of technical documents and reports associated with various projects  
  • Liaison between project managers and site staff/contractors. 
  • Organise yourself and a small team of engineers, technicians (and others) working on a variety  of projects. 
  • Assign & manage hours for each project and manage resource so that people are fully utilised 
  • Know the sequence of jobs (in the office) and pre-empt the need for information/client input 
  • Manage the interface between the site-based contractor’s staff and the designers and help in  resolving site based design changes. 
  • Work as part of a team to suggest improvements which will benefit our clients. 

Desirables

  • Good written and verbal English communication
  • Some knowledge of estimating Energy production and hydrology
  • Practical site experience  an advantage

Shift Work 

  • The post will be required to undertake some shift work (early or late)  
  • Weekend work will be required regularly 
  • Overtime will be paid where appropriate
