Department: Nepal Country Office, ANE, Global Programs Operations

Position Reports to and is supervised by:  Country Director, Nepal. 

Positions Supervised: None

Location: Jhpiego Nepal Country Office, Kathmandu, Nepal

Summary:

This position serves as the in-country human resources liaison and provides leadership on general HR functions. Manage overall tasks for HR matters including:  drafting/updating HR policies and manuals, HRIS, workforce planning, recruiting and selection, compensation and benefits, employee disciplinary matters, coaching and mentoring, employee grievances, training and development, HR process and practices, performance management, employee relations, HR customer service, periodic reports on HR statistics, and other HR support as needed.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update Jhpiego HR policies as needed. Ensure thet staff are made aware ot these policies and interpret them as necessary or requested by staff
  • Provide advice to staff and supervisor on various HR policies and best practices
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection and onboarding of all staff 
  • Negotiate salaries with approval from the Country Director
  • Develop and coordinate orientation schedule for all staff
  • Prepare and Update employment agreement ensuring that they are in keeping with local law and Jhpiego practices
  • Register and update employment benefits (Such as Health Insurance)
  • Update employee status for payroll purposes
  • Work closely with employee’s supervisors for staff performance evaluation and take necessary actions (salary increase, promotions, reassignments and separation of employees)
  • Process consultants contract, including rate negotiations
  • Maintain HR database files (ICIMS) and JEMS
  • Maintain HR personnel files
  • Remind and review staff timesheet and leave records every month
  • Handle employee grievance
  • Ensure that 90 day reviews are conducted appropriately
  • Coordinate all exit procedures for staffs leaving Jhpiego
  • Develop and implement employee wellness and work life balance programs for staffs
  •   Regardless of the level of their responsibilities, all staff members of Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, are expected to
  •  Model the mission and values of Jhpiego 
  • Participate in the business development process
  • Contribute to the knowledge sharing and transfer process 
  • Make responsible decisions that result in time and cost containment and clear accountability

 Qualification and Requirement:

  • Higher secondary education with at least 3-4 years of relevant experience required or Bachelor's degree with relevant experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of the Nepal Labor Law
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written English
  • Ability to communicate effectively, installing trust and confidence
  • Excellent organizational skill including the ability to handle a variety of assignment sometimes under pressure of deadlines
  • Computer skills, demonstrating in the competency of Microsoft Office Excel, MS Word and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work independently and to exercise independent Judgement
