Job Description

The purpose of this role is to oversee HR in Nepal supporting managers to recruit, retain and coach managers to enable effective people management.  

The post holder will work closely with the Country Director and Senior HR Business Partner based in the UK to deliver the responsibilities and activities as noted within the Main Duties and Key Responsibilities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support managers to effectively recruit staff and contractors
  • Support with induction, orientation and onboarding new team members
  • Ensure checks are completed (right to work checks, references, police checks and qualification checks) and kept up-to-date for the Nepal office staff
  • Provide expert HR advice in line with Nepalese labour laws  
  • Support the Country Director and Senior HR Business Partner to implement people initiatives and projects including developing pay structures, wellbeing initiatives and effective blended working 
  • Support managers with employee relations cases, including grievances and disciplinary
  • Ensure contract renewals are submitted and approved in good time
  • Develop, adapt and socialise HR policies and keep the staff handbook updated
  • Support the Country manager to ensure the crisis management process and procedure is up to date and communicated
  • Work with the Health and Safety Advisor to support managers with field risk assessment and Emergency response plans 
  • Ensure office safety is maintained including security and fire risk management
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining staff files, databases and administration systems as well as any other office duties as required
