Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Head Chef will be responsible for overseeing the culinary operations of the school’s kitchen, ensuring the delivery of nutritious and delicious meals to students, staff, and other stakeholders, and maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. 

  • Menu planning and creation of healthy, nutritious, and well-balanced meals taking into consideration any dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Ensure preparation, cooking, and serving of meals safely and hygienically.
  • Ensuring compliance with local, and state regulations regarding food safety and hygiene.
  • Managing and training kitchen staff (cooks, assistants) ensuring that they adhere to established quality standards of food preparation and service.
  • Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies, including food, cooking equipment, and cleaning materials.
  • Promoting healthy eating habits and food safety among the students, faculty, school staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure standardizing of food preparation and quality service in a timely and effective manner.

Required Qualifications and Experiences:

  • A degree in culinary arts or a related field.
  • Certification in food safety and sanitation will be an advantage.
  • At least three years of work experience in a professional kitchen involving in management role.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to plan and prepare top-notch quality Nepali and various cuisines (Indian, Continental, Chinese).
  • Well-versed in baking, poaching, sautéing, and grilling and so on.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and inventory control for cafeteria purpose.
  • Professionally adept in sanitation and hygiene in addition to culinary expertise.  
  • Creativity on new recipes, ability to introduce unique flavors, and improve existing dishes.
  • Multitasking and good organizational skills.
