Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Head of Academics – Culinary is the senior academic and culinary leader responsible for ensuring excellence in teaching, maintaining technical standards, and mentoring instructors. This is a teaching leadership role, ideal for a senior culinary professional transitioning into education and academic management.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership & Teaching

Deliver core culinary modules (food production, practical, kitchen operations)
Maintain high standards in teaching, assessments, and student outcomes
Mentor and guide instructors to improve delivery and performance

Quality Assurance & Standards

Oversee lesson planning, curriculum delivery, and academic consistency
Ensure alignment with CTEVT, CTH, and internal quality benchmarks
Drive discipline, professionalism, and industry readiness among students

Student Development & Exposure

Lead competitions, showcases, workshops, and industry exposure activities
Support student growth through mentorship and structured feedback

Industry Engagement

Build relationships with chefs, hotels, and hospitality partners
Facilitate guest sessions, master classes, and networking opportunities

Curriculum & Innovation

Continuously update curriculum based on industry trends
Develop training materials, SOPs, and advanced learning modules

Revenue-Driven Academic Initiatives

Contribute to workshops, master classes, and short courses
Support initiatives that enhance both learning and institutional revenue

Technical Oversight – MASA Café

Provide guidance on menu development, food quality, and consistency
Conduct periodic training and quality checks (non-operational role)

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Diploma Certificate

Required Experience:More than 5 years

Other Specification

Minimum Qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or a related field

Preferred:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Culinary Arts / Hospitality Management
Certifications in Food Safety / HACCP
Additional specialization in advanced culinary, bakery & patisserie, or international cuisines

Experience

5–8 years of professional kitchen experience
Minimum 2–3 years in a leadership role (Sous Chef/Head Chef level)
Prior teaching or training experience preferred

Skills

Strong culinary fundamentals and multi-cuisine expertise
Teaching, mentoring, and team leadership ability
Curriculum planning and student assessment
Communication, discipline, and structured execution
