Job Description

Build up Nepal is working to make safe housing affordable and introduce Eco-friendly construction technology in Nepal. We are looking for Governance & Policy Officer with experience in advocacy on both local and central level of government to join our team. 

Your job will be to advocate for the use of eco-friendly and disaster resilient construction materials in government programs, policy and procurement. The job is based 50% in Lalitpur and 50% traveling to different locations all around Nepal

Job Responsibilities: 

National level:

  • Work with DUDBC and MOUD to approve norms, specification and construction guidelines for CSEB interlocking bricks. 
  • Work with PPMO about procurement procedures for eco-friendly construction materials.
  • Advocate the use of green technology in Jaanta Aawas and other government programs.
  • Coordinate with NDRMA, NSHRRP and project partners

Local level

You will be traveling frequently all over Nepal (10-15 days a month) where our programs are implemented to advocate for local government to adopt eco-friendly construction practices. 

  • Conduct workshops and seminars with government officials.
  • Draft proposal for adoption of local building by-laws.
  • Regular follow-ups with concerned authorities.
