B.P. Eye Foundation (BPEF), a national NGO with mission to eliminate avoidable blindness and deafness, was established in 1991. Its collaboration with Tribhuwan University resulted in establishment of a center of excellence for human resources for eye health at Tribhuwan University. This strategic partnership helped Nepal in achieving national self-reliance in human resources development for eye health, turning out over 150 Ophthalmologists and over 100 Optometrists. Prior to this, the country was totally dependent on other countries. With this program, Nepal is now helping other countries for training their eye care workers.

It’s current project – Hospital for children, Eye, ENT, and Rehabilitation Services (CHEERS), has served over half a million people in the first 6 years and developed a successful model of integrated Vision and hearing care. The Center is now poised to train different categories of Ear care personnel to help Nepal achieve self-reliance in HRH training and expansion of services.

Job Description

  • Help in design and implement short, medium and long-term goals for the medical facility
  • Seek and frame budgets and operational strategy for each department. Oversee the finances of the hospital, including setting the rates for various health services, budgeting and revenue monitoring
  • Support, manage and monitor different outreach and community-based activities and services
  • Identifying opportunities for and leading organizational reform, service improvements and resource utilization.
  • Consulting with the community and customers to assess their needs, review the quality of services provided and plan the provision of new services.
  • In consultation with Executive Director, initiating, directing and managing the development of plans, strategies, policies and systems for the Hospital.
  • Review and support in patient satisfaction survey, and Hospital Image promotion tasks
  • Support Hospital to achieve the aims of safety management systems and to establish and maintain a positive health and safety culture for patients, staff and the community.
  • Help in raising funds for the healthcare services provision via fundraising events and community partnerships
  • Streamline the operational procedures of the facility to provide patients with the best care
  • Oversee the governance and operations of the Hospital to ensure effective utilization of available financial, physical and human resources and control of service and capital costs. 
  • Develop new ideas for the hospital to improve patient experience and satisfaction
  • Oversee the progress of research (if done) at the hospital
  • Ensure compliance with various government policies and legal regulations
  • Manage the insurance reimbursement for patients by ensuring tie-ups with insurance providers
  • Ensure the security and safety of patient healthcare records and other facility data
  • Communicate with doctors, specialists, nurses, ward attendants and vendors.
  • Liaise with central, provincial and local level bodies for various activities
