Organization Overview:

Helpcode Nepal is a non-profit organization committed to empowering communities and improving education, health, and child protection across Nepal. We work in rural areas of Chitwan, Makawanpur, and Kathmandu, focusing particularly on government schools, and aim to improve access to quality education, health services, and community development in a sustainable manner.

Job Summary:

The Finance Officer will manage Helpcode Nepal’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements. The role will also support day-to-day digital financial systems, reporting and record-keeping to ensure smooth operations across programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain day-to-day accounting records, including bookkeeping, journal entries and ledgers.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
Monitor cash flow, payments and bank reconciliations.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Ensure compliance with Helpcode Nepal policies, donor regulations and statutory requirements.
Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.
Assist in developing financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
Manage electronic financial records and tools, including spreadsheets, email and other digital platforms, for reporting, communication and coordination with teams.
Provide financial guidance and support to program teams.
Undertake field travel up to 30% of the time to support program and financial activities.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 2 years of professional experience in finance/accounting, preferably in NGOs or development organizations.
Strong knowledge of financial management systems and accounting software.
Proficiency in MS Office and digital tools for record-keeping, reporting, and communication.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Strong report writing skills, including preparation of financial and program-related reports.

High integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness and ability to travel for fieldwork up to 30% of the time.
