Job Description

Department: Finance
Reports To: Group Finance Head

Job Summary: 

The Finance Manager is responsible for the overall financial health and management of The British College including other sister companies of BEG/TKG in Nepal. This role oversees all financial operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maximizing the institution's financial resources. The Finance Manager will also supervise the Account Officer and other finance team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Budgeting: 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans and budgets in alignment with the institution's strategic goals.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare financial projections and forecasts.
  • Manage risk assessment and mitigation strategies.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Financial Operation and Management:

  • Oversee all financial transactions, including revenue generation, and expenditure control.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or Nepal Financial

Reporting Standards (NFRS):

  • Manage financial systems and processes, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting software.
  • Cash Cycle and Working Capital Management.
  • Develop a detailed calendar for student fee invoicing, when the fees are due which cohort will be invoiced when, how much is due for each cohort, quarter etc
  • Ensure students are informed of outstanding fees, you must inform the student/parent of the fees one month before the student examinations is due to take palace.
  • Coordinate with PLs for students who have not paid their fees to stop access to college services, i.e. Blackboard.
  • Make sure the university student numbers and TBC numbers match every quarter.
  • Work with the admission department to ensure payment plans are clearly set out for every student during enrollment period.
  • Debt Management and securing the finances.
  • Tax Planning.

Team Management:

  • Supervise the Account Officer and other finance team members, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop finance staff.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Audit, Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Oversee External Audit and Support Internal Audit.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including tax laws, and government regulations.
  • Create audit reports ahead of time before they are required for internal and external auditors. Create a deadline calendar for each authority submission, e.g., tax office.
  • Manage financial risks and implement appropriate controls to mitigate risks.
  • Develop, implement and update finance Programmers and procedures.
