Street Child is an international charity based in the United Kingdom that aims to create avenues for out of school children to access education by through an integrated approach that strengthens the capacity of teachers, schools and communities to sustain their investment in the education for their children.

Street Child was registered in February 2016 in Nepal, and recently completed a humanitarian relief effort project in the earthquake-affected areas of Nepal funded by UNICEF and is now exploring avenues for further impact. As Finance and Admin Officer, you will be part of an exciting stage of the organization’s growth, and will be working closely with the Street Child of Nepal team and partner organizations to support the delivery of project and the design and development of emerging programs.

Job Description

The Finance and Admin Officer will work together with Finance Manager to support and ensure alignment between Street Child of Nepal’s financial, accounting and administrative sustainability. He or she will drive strategic depth across the organisation through implementing of strong internal controls, continuous analysis of targets, financial data and evidence, and building a sound finance, accounting and administrative functions.

Responsibilities:

Financial and Accounting:

  • Keep accurate and complete record of financial transactions in the computerized accounting system.
  • Maintain proper filing of vouchers and backup documents and safe storage of checkbooks and banking documents.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements and to reconcile account balances.
  • Liaise with Partners of Street Child of Nepal to monitor day-to-day financial activities.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable and payable on monthly basis
  • Prepare salary sheets of Street Child of Nepal staff and ensure timely deposits of salaries, taxes and other employment related liabilities.
  • Ensure timely payments to all vendors and staffs, ensuring compliance with Street Child of Nepal and donor agencies rules and regulations.
  • Keep record of and file TDS for all payments made to staff, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Process petty bills (supply and services, utilities, repair and maintenance)

Operations/Administration:

  • Maintain proper inventory records of goods and equipment owned by Street Child of Nepal and ensures that relevant control systems are in place and complied with.
  • Support/oversee logistic arrangements for project activities and travel
  • Conduct periodic market survey to create more effective and efficient procurement practices of goods and services
  • Maintain effective supply arrangements

Education and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting/Professional qualifications like: CA/CPA/ACCA would be an added advantage
  • Three to five years of professional experience in a relevant organization
  • Experience in implementing internal controls and accounting and finance systems
  • Experience in design and delivery of software applications for finance and accounting
  • Experience in legal, audit, compliance, budget and resource development
  • Experience of managing multi donor grants and good knowledge of donor compliance rules and requirements

  • Excellent project planning and project management skills and ability to allocate resources efficiently and effectively Ability to be resourceful and entrepreneurial in setting priorities and streamlining processes and procedures
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills so as to conceptualize multiple approaches to solving a problem and drawing out a clear roadmap with roles and responsibilities
  • Excellent cooperation and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with a multi­disciplinary, diverse and dynamic team
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with an ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently on a range of tasks and to take initiative to take on further responsibilities as appropriate
