Human Rights Awareness Centre (HURAC-Nepal) Rolpa established in 1997 is a non-profit making, non- patrician and leading Nepali non-governmental organization (NGO) working in the areas of rural development, human rights and social justice, having strategic focus on protecting and promoting economic, social and cultural rights and right to development. Its major interventions are towards pro-poor and pro people policies and practices through rural development (livelihood, education, protection, health and sanitation, forest, soil conservation, environment), advocacy, campaign, lobbying, networking, research and awareness rising for people's empowerment. In the campaign, advocacy and lobbying fronts, HURAC has been continuously embarking on the fundamental rights of the children, economically poor, socially excluded and environmentally vulnerable sections of the societies. HURAC believes in result-oriented struggles of the people against poverty, hunger and socio-economic injustices.

HURAC has hereby invites application from interested and qualified candidates for the following full-time positions for the KOICA/UNFPA funded Safe and enabling environment for adolescent girls and young women (SAFE-Girls) Project implementing by Human Rights Awareness Center (HURAC-Nepal) Rolpa in partnership with PLAN International Nepal to working in the different local level of Rolpa and Kaplavastu Districts. Safe Girls project aims is the adolescent boys and girls in and out of school reached with information and tools to make their own informed decisions related to their body, life and world through comprehensive sexuality education and the Rupantaran life skills programme.

Location: HURAC's project office at Lumbini Province area and mentioned palikas

Position: Field Officers- 5 (Female): 3 for Rolpa and 2 for Kapilvastu.

Contract Period : The project period is 1st Jan 2024 to 31 Dec 2027
However, the initial contract period of staff will till the end of March 2025 (Possibility of extension as per the fund availability).

Qualification and experiences:

Bachelor's degree in Social science/Public Health with 2 year of relevant field level working experiences.  

Main responsibilities:

  • Prepare and implement the monthly, quarterly and annual work plan of project
  • Facilitate the field level training, meetings, orientations to adolescents and girls group, young women groups formed in schools;
  • Provide support to adolescents in the schools through adolescent's girls groups and facilitate and follow up to ensure that support is provided in a timely and quality manner;
  • Coordinate with all sectors staff i.e. Child Protection and education and manage the staff working in respective wards/Schools;
  • Coordinate with schools to establish and implement the Safe Space programs.
  • Monitor and manage the safe space and AFIC program in the schools and community.
  • Coordinate with ward and palika level relevant stakeholders and provide the information as per project and organization policy and maintain the relationship with them;
  • Represent the organization in community as per requirement consulting with supervisor;
  • Conduct regular meetings (and visits) with teachers, health persons, representatives of local government and facilitate the identification of adolescents in need and adequate solutions;
  • Ensure that child safeguarding standards are understood and met;
  • Submit monthly the status and other periodic report to supervisor, M and E officer and; board management as well as.
  • Performs other functions relative to Child Protection activities and initiatives that may be assigned by the organization.
  • Conduct the different community level survey, assessment, study, FGD, KII as required in project.
  • Provide necessary support to the project team to conduct the different level training, orientation, workshop of project.
  • Influence to the local government to review and develop the required policy documents as relevant to the project.
