Karnali Poverty Abatement and Development Forum (KPADF) is a non-governmental and non-profit making organizationregistered in District Administration Office Mugu in 2062 and affiliated to Social Welfare Council in 2063. KPDAF has been implementing various projects in the field of community development, health & WASH, poverty alleviation in Mugu district.

Currently, KPADF has been implementing the WASH in School Project in Khatyad Rural Municipality, Soru Rural Municipality and ChhayanthRara Municipality of Mugu districtin partnership with Good Neighbors Japan. The key interventions of the project are to construct gender friendly, MHM friendly, disable friendly and child friendly drinking water facilities, toilets, hand washing stations, incinerators, waste pits, water quality tests, water facility maintenance and promotion of water sanitation and hygiene environment in 31 schools and its’ surrounding communities.

Position based: Chhayanath Rara Municipality, Khatyad Rural Municipality and Soru Rural Municipality (Any one location), Mugu
Application Deadline: 4th May, 2021
Starting Date: As soon as possible in May 2021
Duration of Contract: One year with the possibility of extension
Gross Salary: Rs. 44,400 /annum

Scope of Job

Field Officer is responsible for the implementation of WASH in School project interventions in school and surrounding communities in partnership with Good Neighbors Japan (GNJP). The Field Officer will be based in any one of the project working location ie Chhayanath Rara Municipality, Khatyad Rural Municipality and Soru Rural Municipality in Mugu district with frequent travels to the working wards, schools and communities.

Major duties and responsibility 

A. Planning

  • Collect project specific data and information on School WASH and public health issues during Community Need Assessment.
  • Assist in designing health and WASH related plan of action (PoA) based on provided guidelines of Community Need Assessment. 

B. Implementation

  • Take lead in implementation of health and WASH related activities mentioned in PoA.
  • Guide and orient S-WASH_CC, Child club members, teachers and local level stakeholders to execute field level project activities 
  • Raise awareness of women of reproductive age, mother groups, FCHVs, teachers, child clubs, adolescents, or any other functional committees and community people on various public health issues.
  • Assist in organizing training, orientation, meeting, workshop, conferences and seminars.
  • Facilitate training on menstrual hygiene management for teachers, parents, child club members, SMC and PTA. 
  • Support in distribution of the project related hygiene materials and equipment in school and community.

C. Co-ordination

  • Coordinate with key informants in the communities to establish early rapport and assist to provide overall orientation of the project.
  • Conduct coordination meetings with health facility, rural /municipalities, R/ M/ W/ S-WASH-CC, School Management Committees (SMCs) and other stakeholders for effective implementation of activities.

D. Reporting

  • Report to supervisor on regular basis as per prescribed forms and format on regular (weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual) basis.
  • Compile experiences, lessons learnt, best practices and success stories from the working communities.
  • Keep record of WASH in School related project activities in prescribed formats.
  • Capture the photographs of the activities and share it to the concerned team on regular basis.

E. General

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as instructed by supervisor.

Qualification and Desired Expertise

Education 

  • Bachelor degree in health education or related field.

Experience

  • One to three years’ experience in the field of community mobilization, school WASH and public health.
  • In-depth knowledge of community health, menstrual hygiene management, facilitation of local level orientation and training programme on school WASH, gender and WASH education.
  • Sound knowledge on report writing.
  • Good commanding on computer skills (Ms word, power point and excel etc.)
