Job Description

Sahara Nepal is a leading National Non-Government Organization (N/NGO) in Nepal for social transformation and development through various projects and programs. For its POWER project in Sahara Nepal, it is looking for a dynamic team player in the following position based in Udayapur District.

The Field Monitor (Nutrition and Health) position will be based in Belaka Municipality, Udayapur district, Nepal

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in community Health and Nutrition, preferably in rural settings.
  • Experience working with local governments, health institutions, and community-based organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition-sensitive agriculture, IYCF practices, and community health strategies.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis using tools like Kobooro therdigitalplatforms.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a amulti-sectoralteam.
  • Fluency in Nepali and English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
  • Two-wheeler driving license.

Required Knowledge and Skills.

  • Strengthen management of acute malnutrition (MAM) by supporting health facilities in SAM/MAM case identification, referral, and follow-up.
  • Conduct home visits and counsel caregivers on proper nutrition, hygiene, and food preparation techniques.
  • Train and mentor health workers and FCHVs on nutrition assessment, counseling, and community mobilization strategies.
  • Establish and support mother-to-mother support groups to encourage peer learning and adoption of optimal nutrition and hygiene practices.
  • Collaborate with local government and stakeholders to integrate nutrition-sensitive approaches into existing health and livelihood programs.
  • Engage with farmers groups to promote the cultivation and utilization of Neglected and
  • Under-utilized Crop Species (NUCS) for improved dietary diversity.
  • Coordinate with municipal authorities, NGOs/INGOs, and relevant stakeholders to implement bamboo plantation initiatives and disaster risk reduction (DRR) activities for community resilience, ensuring alignment with environmental sustainability goals and local development plans.
