Post: Farm Supervisor
Duty Station: Regular travel across project sites (Sunsari to Sankhuwasabha & Taplejung)

Scope of Work 

The Farm Supervisor will work under the supervision and direction of the Chairperson & Farm Coordinator of the organization. S/he will also work closely with the donor organization’s Country Director, Finance Coordinator and Program Coordinator, and other staffs to ensure smooth and risk-free farm operation. In addition, s/he will help to develop agricultural plans, quarterly and annual budgets & program along with progress reports ensuring the donor compliance and best practices. The major responsibilities to be taken has been comprehensively included as follows but these are not limited s/he should work on need basis as well. 

Responsibilities Related to Farm Supervision: 

• Planning the operation of the farm
• Setting budgets and production targets of the farm
• Keeping records of livestock and/or crops and financial records related to farm
• Using necessary equipment in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops and repairing farm equipment.
• Organizing and supervising work of employees. 
• Determining a work schedule for each employee in their respective function.
• Training personnel on how to perform the work required; how to operate applicable equipment, in addition to other duties as required by the company such as planting, harvesting, pest control, insect and disease identification, and in the use of safety measures.
• Efficiently communicating to farm coordinator on a daily basis.
• Observing workers to spot inefficient and unsafe work procedures, and initiating the corrective action if necessary. 
• Maintaining employees informed of rules & regulations and enforce them.
• Keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases.
• Responding to emergencies and solving problems effectively.
• Advertising and marketing farm products or the work of the farmer
• Performs other work as assigned. 

Key Qualification & Experience 

• SLC/SEE passed. 
• 10+ years of experience in permaculture based farming
• Experience in the NGO sector would be an advantage. 

Special Skills and Competence 

• Fluent in English and Nepali communication in writing and speaking.
• Good computer literacy including familiarity with MS-Excel and MS-Word. 
• Motivated to be a proactive team player and willingness to work in diverse working environments. 
• Flexible and well organized, hands-on mentality. 
• Highest degree of personal integrity. 
• Highly professional with strong interpersonal skills. 
• Highest degree of gender and caste sensitivity is a must. 

Remuneration: 

• Negotiable/commensurate with relevant skills and experience
