Sunsar Maya is a NGO based in Kathmandu and San Francisco, CA. Our mission is to build pathways out of poverty by improving the livelihoods of vulnerable children and women through holistic, community-based services. Our organisation focuses on three main programs: an after-school program that provides academic, emotional, and medical support for children living in orphanages and extreme poverty; a women’s literacy program to empower and educate women in our community; and teacher trainings in rural schools to provide educators with resources to help them improve outcomes in their classrooms.

Job Description

Position Overview

Sunsar Maya is seeking a passionate and experienced Facilitator to lead STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) training sessions for government teachers across Nepal. The role requires extensive travel to different regions, conducting interactive workshops, observing classrooms, and providing follow-up coaching and support. The ideal candidate will have a background in teaching or training, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a commitment to Sunsar Maya’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Facilitation

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on STEAM workshops for government teachers.
  • Adapt training methodologies to suit diverse learning needs and classroom environments.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning atmosphere that empowers teachers.
  • Follow-Up Support & Classroom Observations
  • Conduct regular school visits to observe teachers implementing STEAM concepts.
  • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to teachers.
  • Gather and document success stories, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.

Program Coordination & Communication

  • Maintain clear and professional communication with teachers, school administrators, and Sunsar Maya staff.
  • Document training sessions, attendance, and feedback for reporting and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the team to continuously refine and enhance training content.
  • Travel & Logistics
  • Travel extensively across Nepal, sometimes to remote areas, with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Coordinate with local schools and partners to schedule and organize training sessions.
  • Ensure training materials and resources are effectively distributed.
