Introduction:
A well-constructed Strategic Plan is required to run the organization effectively in order to demonstrate effective leaderships. A Strategic Plan will ensure alignment and integration of institutional goals, functions, and actions that the organization has envisioned. The purpose of this assignment, is to develop a well-structured Strategic Plan for the Forward Looking that fall thereunder that will facilitate the alignment of efforts, activities and resources to achieve long-term objectives of the organization.
Background of Organization
Established in 2001 the Forward Looking (FL) is the national NGO working for empowerment of persons with disability in Nepal. We champion the rights of people with disability in Nepal. The FL is non-governmental, non-profit making, non-sectarian and non-political organization working mostly in disability. The organization is run and operated jointly by people with and without disability.
FL believes that people with disabilities should have equal access to rights and opportunities. In Nepal, disability is often treated as a stigma and people with disabilities may easily face discrimination in all aspects of life. Our work includes combating injustices and advocating for the rights issues on national level via different programs.
We work towards improving the way of persons with disability are perceived and treated within our society. We do this by running income generating, capacity building initiatives, education projects and campaigns to educate the public about the issues faced by persons with disability on a day-to-day basis. Forward Looking has been running the projects like Education Support Project for Persons with Disability in Surkhet and Kailali districts as well as Livelihoods Improvement Project in Palpa district. Our major donors are FELM-Finland and ONGD-FNEL Luxembourg.
Rationale for Strategic Plan
Effective institutions are key to the success of the program delivery. To achieve effective institutions, the establishment of a political and administrative culture characterized by accountability, transparency, and cooperation is necessary. Therefore, these should be the guiding principles for all program activities and should also constitute the core values for institutions and their common Strategic Plan. Improving transparency and accountability will also build citizens’ trust in public institutions and enhance trust and collaboration amongst institutions while helping to safeguard democratic governance.
To ensure a well-informed, integrated and anchored Strategic Plan with strong traction and ownership, the consultant will work closely with a high-level Working Group with representatives from various components of the institutions. This process will also contribute to building institutional capacity and promoting internal collaboration.
Interested consultancy company and individual consultant who meet the above requirement criteria should apply by submitting their Expression of Interest (EoI) with Concept Note (not more than 5 pages). The outlines should include the detail process, methodology, brief technical description and capacity and estimated budget to accomplish the Strategic Plan. The closing date for applications is 24 May, 2024. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted for interview.
