Emergency Response Infrastructure Engineer-1 position

Purpose: The position holder will be responsible for the daily field engineering oversight of shelter constructions in line with BBB principle. S/he will oversee day-to-day construction and progress with 240 Masons dedicated to this project. Also, s/he will ensure the implementation of the site-specific education and health reconstruction components of the project in accordance with approved designs and quality standards. 

Terms and Location:Six (6) months fixed term employment based in Sindhuli Programme Unit with frequent travel to community and targeted VDCs.  

Core Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, preferred Master’s Degree.
  • At least three (4) years’ experience required in assistant/field engineering roles and ensuring quality of infrastructure interventions .
  • Knowledge and experience in emergency shelter / construction preferable. 
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards in the Nepal required.
  • Experience in drawing or revising building plans preferred (knowledge of AutoCad) 
  • Knowledge of SPHERE Minimum standards on Shelter is preferred 
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, in English and local language 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall technical activities under this project.
  • Coordination with the Area Team, procurement team and with other stakeholders such as VDCs, ward citizen forums.
  • Attend in technical meeting/work shop as technical focal person & represent the organization. 
  • Provide necessary technical supports to partner and field technicians in preparatory works like design, specification, estimation and BOQ preparation 
  • Produce the technical reports and work completion reports of the project capturing best practices and humanitarian interest stories. 
  • Provide the technical inputs in concept note writing, project proposal writing, budgeting for fund raising based on the lessons of the project.
  • Provide the necessary technical support in emergency operation, Recovery & Rehabilitation operation.
